Learn the German they speak in Austria.

Why it matters

Most German courses teach the German of Germany. Then a learner in Vienna hears Jänner for January and Erdäpfel for potatoes, and fills in a Meldezettel where the textbook said Anmeldung. The grammar is the same, but the everyday words and the sound differ enough to slow you down.

What changes when you choose Austria

• Every card can speak in an Austrian accent, set once under Pronunciation.
• Austrian words are marked on their cards, so you know where each one is used.
• The Library leads with ORF articles, videos from Austria and the ÖIF exam topics.
• The course's reading texts from B1 to C1 use Austrian facts, cities and rules.
• ÖIF speaking tasks are answered in Austrian German, with the words that come with it.

Viennese, too

Mundl, the classic Viennese series Ein echter Wiener geht nicht unter, is in the library. Its lines are in dialect, while the cards carry the standard headword, so you learn to recognize Viennese without learning to spell it. Twelve episodes play right in the app, with the lines from your cards under the picture.

One honest limit

The pronunciation score on a card works with the Germany accent for now, because the speech check does not cover Austrian German yet. Listening and speaking practice work in the Austrian accent.
